Structural Steel
Frames, platforms and pipe racks that carry the plant.
01Overview
Structural steel sets the geometry every other discipline has to live with. If the frame is out, the piping is out, the cable tray is out, and the equipment does not land on its bolts.
Plejad provides steel erection crews for primary and secondary structures, platform and access works, and the modifications that a live plant constantly generates.
02Capabilities
What this discipline covers.
- 01Erection of primary and secondary structural steel
- 02Pipe rack and support structure assembly
- 03Platforms, stairs, ladders and access walkways
- 04Bolted and welded connections to specification
- 05Modification and reinforcement of existing structures
- 06Setting-out, alignment and dimensional checks
03Typical scope
Work packages typically contracted under this discipline.
- —New pipe rack for a process expansion
- —Equipment support structures and skids
- —Access platforms around vessels and columns
- —Structural modifications for a plant retrofit
- —Replacement of corroded secondary steel

Scope is confirmed per project. Capabilities listed here are indicative and adjusted to the specification, permit regime and client procedures of each site.
04Execution approach
How the discipline is planned, staffed and closed out.
01
Survey before steel
Foundations and existing interfaces are surveyed first — steel is not the right place to absorb somebody else's tolerance.
02
Lift planning
Erection sequence, crane positions and exclusion zones are agreed with the site before the first piece leaves the laydown area.
03
Connection integrity
Bolted connections are torqued and recorded; welded connections follow the qualified procedures and the agreed inspection level.
04
Handover geometry
Structures are handed over with dimensional checks completed, so the following disciplines start from a known position.
