Welding & Metal Works
Qualified welders, qualified procedures.
01Overview
Welding is the point where the paperwork and the physical work have to agree. A weld is only complete when the procedure, the welder qualification and the inspection record line up with what is actually in the pipe.
Plejad provides welders and metal workers for piping, structural and equipment scopes, with qualification records available to the client and inspection carried out to the level the project sets.
02Capabilities
What this discipline covers.
- 01Welding on process piping and pressure-retaining components
- 02Structural and equipment welding
- 03Carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy materials
- 04Welder qualification records supplied before mobilisation
- 05Coordination of non-destructive testing with the client's regime
- 06General metal works, cutting, forming and repair
03Typical scope
Work packages typically contracted under this discipline.
- —Welding scope within a piping installation package
- —Structural welding on frames, platforms and supports
- —Repair welding during maintenance and outages
- —Workshop welding for fabricated assemblies
- —Additional welding capacity for a client's own crew

Scope is confirmed per project. Capabilities listed here are indicative and adjusted to the specification, permit regime and client procedures of each site.
04Execution approach
How the discipline is planned, staffed and closed out.
01
Procedure first
The applicable welding procedure is confirmed before the first joint, together with the consumables and the material grade it covers.
02
Matched qualification
Welders are assigned to joints their qualification actually covers — position, material and thickness range included.
03
Recorded as welded
Joint numbers, welders and dates are logged during execution so the weld map is real, not reconstructed.
04
Inspection ready
Work is presented for NDT in the sequence the inspection plan requires, so repair rates and re-tests stay manageable.
